When a dog barks at the moon, then it is religion; but when he barks at strangers, it is patriotism! ~David Starr Jordan

Generations

I have been giving thought to the concept of the generations as they have been popularly described now and in past years.

I have come to find that I am not a "Baby Boomer". I find that I am the last of the "Silent Generation". I was born in the year preceding Jan. 1, 1946. I am not a boomer. I am however an "age mate" to that generation. We started school in 1950 and we were the bulk of the gun fodder for the Viet Nam years. We are now at retirement age and we find that our prospects for Social Security are not the same as that of our parents and grandparents. We also expect to be in the work force longer. We also may expect to be healthy enough to enjoy a longer and more productive "old age". I am just unable to see myself confined to watching Jeopardy as I see some of my more elderly friends doing. There are too many other good opportunities.

What about you are you a "Boomer" or are you something else? How has that affected your life and your worldview?
